POLICE in Tavistock are appealing for witnesses after an alleged racist incident in the town?s McDonald?s restaurant last Thursday. The incident occurred at around 7.30pm, when a group of children, who were not local, visited the restaurant in the care of an adult. Sgt Ian Woods said a 25-year-old man was alleged to have used racially taunting words and behaviour directed at the children and adult, causing the group alarm and distress. Police were called and the man was arrested. He is due to appear before Plymouth Magistrates Court next Tuesday, November 8. Sgt Woods asked anyone who was in McDonald?s at the time and witnessed what happened to contact PC Steve Saunders, quoting crime ref JT 05 1492.
