THE 38th Launceston and Callington annual ploughing match took place on Friday, October 4 at Kingston Farm, Stoke Climsland, by kind permission of the Lightfoot family. 

There were nine classes, all of which were well attended.

Duchy College entered three teams of students, who ploughed one way with multi-furrow ploughs. Public attendance was good, despite inclement weather.

Anthony Retallack. of Tremaine, Launceston, an up and coming ploughman, took first prize in the vintage hydraulic class while Sam Medland, of Trengune, Launceston, won third place in the novice class. 

John Tryner and Peter Pink, of Launceston, both experienced ploughmen in their '80s, came fifth and sixth in their respective classes. The land owner's son Jake Lightfoot, did well and took third place in his class.

Match champion was Roland Glanville, of St Columb, and reserve champion was Anthony Retallack.
