WITH the sun breaking through the clouds a strong field assembled for the start of the fifth annual Peter Tavy Plod, including three of the previous winners.

The field was soon in single file as they ran to the clouds climbing continually from the village centre to the open moorland.

A battle emerged at the head of the field with eventual winner Harry Wiltshire gradually pulling away from defending champion Jim Cole with the field observing from behind.

As the runners descended down into Cudlipptown some may have taken in the spectacular views across to Cornwall before winding through the wooded areas to the River Tavy and emerging back in to the village to complete the tough five mile run.

Harry Wiltshire was first home in a superb time of 26 minutes 46 seconds, Nick Champion was first junior and fourth overall in 31.25 and Kate Williams was the first lady home in 44.50.

Congratulations to the winners together with all who competed not only in the main race but also the Fun Run which took place simultaneously over one mile.

The run takes place in tandem with the village fayre and the organisers would like to thank its sponsor the Original Pasty Shop in Tavistock together with support from Brooks Running and Active Sports.
