SCORES of people in Tavistock pledged to do their bit to tackle climate change during a Westden event last Saturday. More than 80 pledges were collected from visitors to the Westden yurt in Bedford Square pledging a variety of actions, from using public transport to reach work, to buying local food, and using low energy light bulbs at home. Despite poor weather, the yurt attracted a great deal of attention. Visitors received free local food tastings, advice on composting and car-sharing. Westden will be running three hands-on local food events in the New Year. Participants will get a chance to experience, cook with, and taste, fresh local food. Numbers will be limited.
