WITH reference to the letter in last week?s Times from K Ellis, the Lions Club was delighted that the family enjoyed the wonderful carnival procession but disappointed to learn that it was ruined by the acts of some ?immature adults? and for which we sincerely apologise. As stated in the letter, everybody was repeatedly asked during the assembly of the procession not to spray the spectators and the entry organisers also have this instruction in writing prior to Carnival Day. I do have to say, however, that the spraying of water was not just one way. There were several incidents observed where members of the crowd were seen throwing water onto the floats, an act that could have expensive consequences when you consider that many of the floats these days have their own electrical power and PA systems. We appreciate that carnival is a time for fun and games but can we please ask everybody to leave the water at home next year.
