HATHERLEIGH and Okehampton Cats Protection are desperately trying to find a suitable home for a very special cat called Watkins.
Watkins turned up as a stray and befriended an elderly lady. He soon become a firm favourite but unfortunately his adopted carer was not able to cater for his needs.
Elaine Hill of Cats Protection said Watkins was 'a charmer of a cat' and when he tested positive for the cat virus FIV, volunteers were extremely surprised as he was a fine looking cat with no signs of disease.
Mrs Hill said: 'Watkins has a long life ahead of him that he would love to spend in a home.'
She said a home has to be found for Watkins where he will be an only cat or as a companion for another FIV cat. Vet's bills for his condition would be covered by the Cats Protection branch.
