OXFAM's Book Bank at Morrison's in Tavistock is now out of action for six months — but volunteers for the charity have reassured everyone that donations can still be made. The bank, sited in the forecourt of Morrison's, has been removed because of building works. The contents of this container are normally delivered weekly to the Oxfam Books and Music shop on North Street by one if its volunteers. Deputy volunteer manager, Mary Andrews, said: 'We are concerned that our generous donors may be deterred from passing their surplus and unwanted books and CDs on to us, with the loss of this convenient disposal point. 'Unfortunately, we do not have the facility for collecting books from donors, so we are keen to reassure all our supporters that books may be delivered to our shop at 4 North Street, any time between the hours of 9am and 4.30pm, Monday to Saturday inclusive.' Books brought into the shop will help fund Oxfam's work with people living in poverty worldwide.
