PLAY equipment in two East Cornwall recreational grounds has been given a well deserved makeover.
Stoke Climsland Parish Council put in applications for grants to update the equipment at both Stoke Climsland Village Green and Downgate Park and was successful enough to receive funding from the national Lottery and SITA to update the equipment.
The new facilities include disabled-friendly equipment at both parks so more children are able to play.
Parish chairman Nigel Cooper said the equipment was getting a 'bit tired' and although the recent inspection by Rospa said the equipment was safe to use, the report said it would need replacing in the near future.
The council spent 18 months planning, writing applications and installing the new equipment.
Mr Cooper said: 'We hope it will be well used. Stoke Climsland Green is adjacent to the primary school so they all go out to play after school and Downgate is also surprisingly well used.
'We added equipment for exceptional needs children including an eagle nest swing and a play ship with disabled access.'
BBC weatherman David Braine, opened the new equipment at Stoke Climland Green to the public and local marathon runner Ben Mayhew unveiled the new equipment at Downgate.
