PLAYING in Milton Abbot has become much more fun for village youngsters with the opening of a new playpark.

The playground was officially opened by the Rev Greg Stanton, who blessed the new equipment.?Local children cut the ribbon.

The equipment has been provided thanks to funding from Biffa Award's multi-million pound fund that helps to build communities and transform lives through grants to community and environmental projects, and was supported by West Devon Borough Council.

The children have now explored every part of the new equipment designed and installed by Playline Design Ltd and Milton Abbot Community Group.

Supported by OCRA, the North Tamar Fencing Club provided a display at the opening with many families trying out the the sport.

The afternoon raised more than £180 which will help towards running costs and the committee expressed thanks to all the local businesses and individuals who supported the event, including Tesco, Traditional Puddings, Moos Play, MAVIS, Edgecumbe Pub, Endsleigh Hotel, Darcy and Charles, Moor Jews, Plume of Feathers, Trethorne, Visage and Tavistock Massage as well as many others.
