BRAVO Sylvia Crocker (Letters, April 11). I also risk life and limb every time I ride, walk and drive along that stretch of the A30.

If there is any stretch of road crying out for the imposition of a 30mph speed limit it is this one — from the top of Coombebow Hill to Stone Farm.

There are two if not three busy farm entrances along there, with vehicles coming in and out for most of the day.

There is a cross-roads with limited visibility in each direction and about 10 houses that face right onto the road with no footpath to walk on, so I can sympathise with Mrs Crocker if she is trying to push a pram anywhere along this stretch of road — it must be quite frightening.

I also ride my horse along here and it really is a game of Russian Roulette with the traffic travelling at outrageous speeds.

Like Mrs Crocker I have had several hair-raising moments and one near accident. There are street lights all the way along, so why can we not have a 30mph speed limit as well?

This is supposed to be the scenic route to Sourton Cross, not a race track for all and sundry — especially lorries.

Which begs the question why do so many lorries still use this road? Surely the idea of building the dual carriageway was so that heavy traffic would use it.

Please will somebody do something.
