THIRTY members of the Tavistock branch of the Muscular Dystrophy Association joined in the celebrations at Coads Green Social Centre recently.

On Saturday, July 12 approximately 140 people visited the centre to join in the celebrations marking the 40th anniversary of Coads Green Amateur Players' first full length production.

For 37 of the 40 years, the amateur players have supported the Tavistock branch by making a donation each year to the association's holiday fund, which has seen more than £10,600 donated.

Several members of cast from the first ever production of 'Mother Goose' were at the celebrations, the eldest being Doris Baker, aged 97.

BBC Radio Cornwall's Michael Taylor also dropped in for a chat and expressed thanks to the amateur players for their donation to the Precious Lives appeal.

Since 1968 a total of approximately £22,000 has been donated to charities, both local and national.
