I AM again asking your readers for help to undo the mess of road restrictions between Whitchurch and Grenofen. I am asking them to write to Paul Mathews, Local Services Officer, c/o West Devon Borough Council, Kilworthy Hill, Tavistock, PL19 0BZ

The dangers on this road I have witnessed several times in the past two months, caused by a lack of Right of Way signs, appalling visibility at each end and the whole piece being outside the 30mph area.

I am also surprised that your paper has not seen fit to take up this particular matter as I am convinced that there will be a serious accident soon. The real frustration is in the Whitchurch Road from Tavistock to the Whitchurch X-roads and this is what the original protests were about. These have not been addressed and there have been three accidents in the road in recent months. When will humps be introduced? They are terrible but are successful.

So write to your councillor, West Devon Borough Council and Devon County Council Highways.

l The Times has carried many stories and letters on the controversy over the Whitchurch-Grenofen road — Editor

HAVE I been mistaken in my belief that for some considerable time traffic congestion has plagued Whitchurch Road?

Now that planning consent has been given for six new properties on land there, at present servicing only one, and bearing in mind how many other nearby properties have considerable plots of ground behind them, might I ask whether similar approval will be given should those owners follow suit and seek to develop their land by demolishing existing houses?

A precedent has been set and any such planning requests will be impossible to refuse, the resultant serious consequences obvious.
