A NEW £40,000 play park at Courtlands in Tavistock will be opened on Monday by the town mayor, Robin Pike. The new area, for children aged 4 to 10, includes swings, a multi-play unit, a swivel climbing frame and roundabout, spring rockers, talking flowers and toddler equipment, including a cuckoo clock and Postman Pat game. Previously, a basketball court and one goalpost on the playing field was all the children had in the way of equipment and it is hoped in time more items will be installed for the older children. The junior area has been fenced off and the fencing has been powder-coated green so it blends in with the environment. The playpark links up with the rear entrance of the neighbouring nursery, children from which will attend the opening.
