IN commemoration of a William Morris exhibition currently on at RHS Garden Rosemoor, a beautiful hand carved plaque was presented to head of site Sally Charleton.

The West Country Wood Carvers were demonstrating their skills at a family fun day when they presented a stunning carved plaque depicting Evenlode a William Morris design.

The plaque has been hand carved out of a single piece of lime wood. Geoff Barnard, the carver responsible for the work of art, said it took some months to do but as he only worked on it in small bursts he could not comment on exactly how many hours of labour it took!

The plaque is now on display in the William Morris Exhibition.

The West Country Wood Carvers are a talented bunch of individuals who demonstrate and generally encourage more interest in the ancient skill and art of wood carving. The West Country Wood Carvers will be back at Rosemoor for the Wood Craft Day on Sunday October 24.

The William Morris exhibition Inspired by Nature, is on at Rosemoor until Monday August 30 and is a unique collection of original works by the renowned artist.
