PLANNING permission has been granted for a bungalow to replace the clubhouse on a former golf course north of Tavistock.

West Devon Borough Council’s development management and licensing committee approved the application for a single storey dwelling with a hipped roof at Hurdwick Golf Club after hearing there had been a building on the plot since the 1950s.

Cllr Jeff Moody, member of Tavistock North, said ‘ I would be very concerned that this would be used as a precedent for other developers wishing to develop in other areas around the outskirts of Tavistock like Violet Lane for example.’

However, councillors voted eight for to one against with one abstention to approve the application.
