ALMOST 150 much-needed ‘affordable’ homes are due to be built in Tavistock in the near future and this month West Devon Borough Council will be highlighting housing opportunities at a drop-in event as it puts ‘local homes for local people’ at the top of its agenda.

The council has organised the event on Saturday, August 17 to show housing opportunities in the borough, especially given the number of new affordable properties which are due to be delivered in the coming years from the new developments being built in Tavistock.

A number of new affordable properties will be available from the three major developments in the town.

At the Broadleigh Park estate on New Launceston Road, there are 37 affordable homes, Embden Grange on Butcher Park Hill has 38 and the Bovis development, which will see up to 750 homes built off Callington Road, will see 68 units provided for affordable housing in its first building phase of 398 homes.

Further phases in coming years from Bovis will provide more affordable properties.
