PLANS for the new large housing development of 750 homes in Tavistock is progressing, with an application for reserved matters due to be submitted to West Devon Borough Council in the ‘near future’.
Residents near the site at Callington Road received a consultation newsletter last week informing them of the application by Bovis Homes to agree the look and scale of the first phase of the development, among other details.
This follows the approval of outline planning consent in October 2013 to construct 750 homes, the provision of a site for a primary school, convenience store, railway station site and associated infrastructure, including new vehicular and pedestrian access from the A390.
This application will be the first of four reserved matters proposals.
In the newsletter produced by Walsingham Planning on behalf of Bovis Homes, it states: ‘Details of access to the site have already been approved. Bovis Homes now need to submit the remaining details relating to appearence, landscaping, layout and scale to the council for approval.
This first phase comprises a parcel of land containing proposed new homes plus road infrastructure and landscaping.
‘Careful consideration has been given to how the first phase of the site will be developed in relation to existing constraints, including its relationship with adjacent properties, existing vegetation, ecology and heritage interests.
‘As part of the application, supporting documentation will be submitted to show how we have addressed the retention of existing hedgerows and trees, ecology and nature, heritage interests and foul and storm water drainage.
‘We aim to submit the reserved matters application in the near future.’
Once validated, all the supporting documents will be available to view on West Devon Borough Council’s website and the public will have the opportunity to comment formally on the plans.
No further information was available from Walsingham Planning when approached by the Tavistock Times.
