FRIDAY night cadet members from Weir Quay Sailing Club got together with neighbouring Cargreen sailing club last month. The cadets, aged between 10 and 18, along with instructors and helpers from both clubs, had a great evening out, on and in the water ? and a joint barbecue at Weir Quay club house followed. Last month Weir Quay sailing club held their annual open day. The virtually continuous rain ceased for a few hours and a good few people turned up to enjoy a somewhat gentle sail and several new members were recruited. Club spokesperson Cathy Sharp said: ?Many thanks to all who turned up especially club members who helped both on and off shore.? Weather permitting dinghy racing and fun sails on Sundays run throughout July and August at the club. Steve Kirby, the club?s RYA dinghy instructor, is running training sessions on Sunday nights for adult members throughout the summer ? whatever the weather! On Saturday the club held its annual Regatta and barbeque. The regatta had a good turnout of members, guests and lovely weather. Events included a treasure hunt by dinghy, blindfolded rowing and a model boat race followed by a barbeque.
