CRIES of 'Arrrgh', 'Shiver me timbers' and 'Pieces of eight' were to be heard coming from the hall at Tavistock Community Primary School when children in the reception class began the day by performing a swashbuckling assembly on pirates to parents, carers, friends and children from the nursery.

The day ahead for all nursery and reception children was then filled with pirate activities which included treasure hunts, map making, ship sailing, hat making, dancing and singing to sea shanties and the eating of tasty pirate food.
