AT a street collection held in Bedford Square, Tavistock recently, Dousland resident Roger Mechan collected £295 for Help for Heroes.

The collection was to boost his fundraising before setting off on a 200-mile trek from Nantes to Roscoff.

Sixty-six year old Roger set off on his journey last week and is following the route of the Nantes to Brest Canal, a journey he anticipates will take him 12 days and bring to over 1,000 the total number of miles he has walked through Europe to raise funds for Help for Heroes.
