BERE Alston's Holy Trinity Church was in full bloom with a three-day flower festival with the theme of pilgrimage.

The theme was suggested due to the history of the Bere Peninsula — Birlanda. Formerly pilgrims started their tremendous journey to Santiago de Compostella, or the Holy Land by boat from the Tavy and Tamar.

A great deal of expertise, thought, sincerity and love had gone into the interpretation of the theme with numerous floral arrangements as well as an embroidered banner, 'The Four Seasons', botanical pictures and a prayer tree for messages.

The Rev Nick Law expressed thanks to Eileen Foster, Helen Pike, John Martin, Dee Dion, Holy Trinity Church, St Andrew's Church, Bere Parish Local History Group, Bere Ferrers WI, Bere Alston Gardening Club, The Craft Club (children's group), Bere Ferrers Art Group and Melville Road Art Group.
