A NAUTICAL journey around the world was portrayed in words and song by the Tavy Tars at Bere Ferrers Church Hall last Friday and Saturday, with a little help from their friends.

Both nights were sold out, with the audience enjoying appropriate refreshments while listening to a variety of entertainment, including sea shanties, tales and harp solos. The evening was entitled Tall Ships and Tall Tales and the proceeds of £380 will go to the RNLI.

A raffle was also held in aid of the church hall renovation fund and raised £120.

Items by the Tavy Tars included Eddystone Light , Ghosts of Cape Horn and Wild Rover, while additional entertainment included a rendition of Long Live the Parrot, by Clive Charlton and William Spearing, We Are Sailing, by Graham Fine and The Yotties, by Nelson Bowden. Tim Hampson was the harpist.
