TAVISTOCK College is to hold an exhibition of photographs taken by students later this week.
The exhibition is being held in conjunction with the Tavyside Health Centre Patients Association (TPA) following their successful Young Photographer of the Year competition.
The collaboration between Tavistock College and the TPA was expanded this year when they successfully undertook a joint project researching young people and health lifestyles with the students in Year 10 and Year 12 involved. The project was supported with funding from Tavistock Town Council.
The TPA hopes that patients will go along in support of the exhibition along with parents and friends.
The annual photography competition and its shield was devised by the TPA six years ago to help younger patients make the best use of Tavyside’s facilities. The aim was to strengthen patient confidence by making it feel more familiar and make young people see beyond the clinical environment.
The shield and financial prizes are supported by Eric Reynolds in memory of his wife Maureen, while the photographic prize is sponsored by Dartmoor Photographic.
The exhibition runs at Tavistock College from June 7 to June 9. Entrance to the exhibition between 3.30pm and 5pm is free and all are welcome.
