A NEW health club based in Okehampton is doing its bit for the local community.

Phoenix Health Club has recently agreed to sponsor a local netball team, also coincidentally called Phoenix.

Kathy Curtis from the health club said: 'The girls are doing really well playing in the first division of Okehampton and District Netball League, and we wanted to get involved. We've sponsored them with some lovely Fushia Pink Hoody's embellished with our logo.'

The health club, based at Fatherford Farm, is also holding a wine and cheese evening for CLIC Sargent, a charity that provides care and support for children with cancer.

The evening, which will be held on Saturday November 27 at 7.30pm, will also include a fashion show by Okehampton shop In House, and an exciting debut performance by Lynne Rogers' Youth Street Jazz class.

A raffle will also be held, with prizes including personal training and membership at the gym, treatments from Quinns Hair, and a hamper filled with £200 worth of goodies donated by local businesses.

Entry to the event costs £5, which includes free entry to the raffle and a glass of wine on arrival.
