St. Austell 1 Tavistock A 2 AFTER last week's defeat Tavistock were determined to bounce back against a confident St Austell side.     In breezy conditions the first half opened with lots of misplaced passes by both teams. Tavistock settled rather quicker than the home side and after a period of sustained pressure took the lead after 20 minutes with a breakaway goal by striker Luke Daniels.     This was the only score in the first half but from the restart the home side pressurised Tavistock and produced a good finish to level the score from open play despite some determined defence from Tavistock.     There followed a period of free-flowing hockey from both sides but neither team appeared able to break the deadlock until 12 minutes from the end when another breakaway goal from the prolific Luke Daniels proved to be the winner. Despite a series of attacks by St Austell the away side held out with goalie Martin Osborne excelling with some fine work including one terrific save from a short corner. Tavistock's defence was epitomised by Phil Edward's sterling work including one memorable block to shut out the home side's attack.
