TAVISTOCK triathlete Pete Jarman competed in the Bude 2011 Junior Triathlon with 60 young athletes from school year groups from year 4-9.
The race began with a swim in the Bude sea pool with varying distances for the child's year group.
The water at the start of the race on the blustery morning was cold and most of the children wore wetsuits. Once out of the pool there followed a quick run up the swimming pool steps and up to the Elizabeth mast at the top of Summerleaze Downs. Here everyone took off their wetsuits and set off for the cycle ride stage of the race.
The cycle section was followed by a final one lap run of the Downs.
Pete was really proud to be presented with the cup for the first year nine boy to finish the event.
