TWO young women who are busy with their studies are also hard at work producing a production in aid of a Tavistock charity. A-level students Tilly Barnes and Polly Sargent have become charity fundraisers hoping to put on a successful youth production of Peter Pan, both directed and performed by local young people. For one day only on July 13 at Tavistock Town Hall, everyone will have the chance to watch the traditional production of Peter Pan and help raise money for the local Meadows' Makeover Charity. The Meadows' Makeover team was formed after a campaign started on Facebook by parents concerned about the condition of the play equipment at Tavistock Meadows, and it has since been raising funds to update the play park. Polly said: 'We decided to do this for Meadows Makeover as not only is it a localised charity, but it is one where the outcome of the fundraising can be seen and put to use by children in the local community. 'We also felt it was fitting as Peter Pan is about not wanting to desert your childhood.' The pair has received a grant of £150 from Arts Grant, West Devon Borough Council, which will go towards the hiring of the town hall. Polly said: 'We have a personal goal of £600, although naturally we are very keen to surpass this and hope to do so with our fundraising schemes and two performances. 'We are likely to do more quizzes, and we are also hoping to enter a float in the carnival, perhaps do bag-packs at Morrisons and Co-op, and devise a Peter Pan themed fundraiser.' Mia Alaoui, co-founder of the Meadows' Makover team said:?'I am really impressed that Polly and Tilly have taken it upon themselves to put on the production and thrilled they chose our cause as we believe a new park is what this town needs.' Around 12 people are confirmed and are currently rehearsing for Peter Pan, with further participants likely to join later on during the production process. The cast includes: Ella Gardner as Peter Pan; Bethany Hulme-Teague, Wendy Darling; Tom Briggs, Mr Darling/Smee; Rose Webber, Mrs Darling/lost child; Jacob Clinton, John Darling; Jasper, Michael Darling; Will Carter, Hook; Phoebe Adams, Tiger Lily/Liza; Izzy Stuart, Tinkerbell; and Raffi Hulme-Teague as Nana. Performances will be held at 2.30pm and 7.30pm on July 13. Tickets for the matinee show are £3 for adults and £2 for children. For the 7.30pm show tickets are £5 for adults and £3 for children.
