STAFF and students at Callington Community College will be given a rare insight into the workings of the House of Lords tomorrow (Friday), when Baroness Dean of Thornton-le-Fylde visits the college.

The visit is part of the successful Peers in Schools outreach programme run by the House of Lords to help engage the public, and particularly young people, in the wide ranging work of the House of Lords does and the important role of Parliament.

During her hour-and-a-half visit to the college, Baroness Dean will meet Year 12 students and take part in a special question and answer session.

Sally Humphries, director of sixth form, said: 'We are really excited to have the chance to meet Baroness Dean.

'Living in Cornwall we do not always get the exposure to the political hub of things.

'Many of our students have an extremely keen interest in politics and economics and we are delighted they will be able to put their queries to her.'
