THE history of Exbourne will be the topic of a free exhibition on Sunday, September 13 held by the village’s local history group in conjunction with English Heritage Open Days.

Visitors to the Exbourne History Group exhibition will see the group’s First World War research as well as life in the village during the war, a display about the 1978 blizzard, the story of the Lethbridge Arms fire and the building of the methodist church on the site, details of the post rounds of Exbourne up to 1971 and other interesting topics.

The group was formed in 2010 and has since been part of the English Heritage Open Days on three occasions.

The group has 31 members and meet monthly to which visitors are welcome for a nominal admission of £2 per person.

Last year a special exhibition was held to showcase the research of eight properties in the parish.

A book was published as a result of this work and is still available.

Work has commenced on researching a further group of properties with an aim of taking part in the 2016 Open Days.

The Exbourne Local History Group exhibition will be open from 2pm to 5pm and entry is free. Cream teas will be available throughout the afternoon.
