Everything from computers to kettles can be saved from landfill and recycled — conserving resources and the environment.
The amnesty on July 18 is the brainchild of West Devon Borough Council and UK waste disposal company, WasteCare who specialise in providing waste solutions to business.
Andy Barron, waste management officer at the council, said: 'This is a great opportunity for local businesses to save money, and by building links with WasteCare they can use this potentially free collection service for recycling electronic waste in the future.'
WasteCare provides a free collection of business electronic waste throughout Devon. Collected equipment is recycled within the UK and is responsibly handled within a regulated environment where data security is a priority.
Tom Harrison from WasteCare Devon, said: 'Sometimes people may be reluctant to get rid of old computing and mobile phone equipment because of worries about data security. We can help. WasteCare offers you peace of mind with certification of destruction and a firmly regulated processing system.'
The electrical waste amnesty is on Thursday, July 18 from 10am to 2pm at Kilworthy Park, Drake Road, Tavistock, PL19 0BZ.
