Callington Town 1

Nanpean Rovers 0

ANOTHER workmanlike performance gave Callington three more points as they continued their late surge up the table, despite playing the final 20 minutes with ten men after Kevin Blatchford was red carded.

Town thought they had taken the lead on 14 minutes when a great move involving Ryan Thomas on the right saw his ball feed James Gorst who fired it past Ryan Holland in the Nanpean net, only to be ruled out by an offside flag.

Rovers? Neil Ham brought a good save from Andy Hatch in the Town goal on 22 minutes, but it was mainly pressure at the other end as Chris Truscott and James Crawford were denied by Holland before the goal on the half-hour.

Blatchford was the creator with a neat run and his deep cross from the byline found the head of Truscott and the striker powered the ball beyond the grasp of the keeper and into the net.

The front man was denied a second on the stroke of half-time by another good stop from Holland who also saved from Gorst.

The second half saw neither side have clear cut opportunities although the nerves of the home supporters were put to the test following Blatchford?s dismissal. His side held on to surpass the 40-point barrier which the manager had set for his team at the start of the season.
