THE Tavistock branch of the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign held its annual party in the town's Methodist Church hall last weekend.

Young sufferers from MD attended the event, accompanied by families and friends and supporters of the branch, as they thanked them for their help throughout the year.

Muscular Dystrohy is a muscle-wasting disease which in its most extreme form, leads to a short life expectancy and the need to use a wheelchair from the age of about ten.

Each year, the Tavistock branch of the MDC organises a holiday for young sufferers, when volunteers from the town act as helpers to around 15 guests from around Devon and Cornwall.

The 2011 holiday, spent in the Midlands, was great fun for the youngsters, while also giving parents and carers a well-earned break.

The holiday project has been running for some 40 years, with the generous support of people from in and around Tavistock.
