PREPARATIONS are well under way for a giant children?s party being held in Tavistock later this month to celebrate the 900th anniversary of the granting of the town?s market charter. The Hallowe?en fancy dress party is being organised by Tavistock Pannier Market staff and traders and is free to children between the ages of six and eleven. Deputy market reeve Mike Souttar said the party, to be held on Sunday October 30 in the pannier market, promised to be a fantastic affair, with a big party tea, a disco, a children?s entertainer and plenty of activities. Mike said a number of local companies had also shown interest in sponsoring the party. To obtain tickets for the big event, children need to draw or paint a picture based on the market and drop it into the market office. Make sure to include the child?s name, age, primary school attended and a contact number for a parent or guardian. ?If you are not sure what to do or would like more information about the party, give me a call,? said Mike, who is hoping the children?s party will be every bit as successful as the celebration tea dance for senior citizens, which was held in July.
