A NEW dentist for Tavistock, funding for Princetown Neighbourhood Watch, outreach surgeries in villages, and more home safety visits by the police and fire service helping residents feel safer in their homes are among the many successes of the West Devon Local Strategic Partnership (LSP). The partnership, led by West Devon Borough Council, brings together the Council, Devon County Council, Fire Service, Police, Primary Care Trust, the voluntary sector and community representatives working towards making the lives of people in West Devon better. In the last six months the borough has hosted a series of events inviting interested individuals from all sectors of the community to have their say in the future work of the partnership. The meetings centred on the priorities of West Devon residents which are access to services, community wellbeing, economy, environment and housing. There was a positive response to the events and the views of those that attended have contributed to the development of the partnerships work plan for the next three years. Cllr James McInnes, LSP chairman and borough council leader, said: 'It's great to see partners working together so effectively to improve the quality of life and in a way that safeguards the wonderful environment of West Devon.' Each priority now has its own action plan and steering group which meet regularly to review the work carried out.
