OKEHAMPTON Ladies played some of their best hockey of the season in this friendly encounter.
In the first half Okehampton's passing was polished and precise, moving the ball swiftly around the pitch. Forwards Kelly Cooper and Jo Mappett outwitted the Taw Valley defence and were unlucky not to find the back of the Taw net.
Okehampton were awarded a series of penalty corners early in the second half but were unable to convert them into goals despite valiant efforts from Alex Collins and Sue Stanbury.
As the Okehampton players tired, Taw Valley raised their game producing some decisive tackles from Elaine Morgan and Sandy Douglas in the home defence. Right back Judith Grant proved invaluable with her clearance shots from deep in the Okehampton circle.
Goalkeeper Sharon Parsons saved Taw Valley's goalscoring attempts to keep Okehampton in the match.
