Carlsberg South Western Peninsula Premier Tavistock 1 Plymouth Parkway 5 AFTER suffering two heavy defeats in four days, Tavistock were looking to bring a little stability back into their season against high flying Plymouth Parkway on a late summer afternoon at Langsford Park. Tavistock created an early opportunity for Mark Conday who headed wide. But their endeavour was rewarded when Will Stringer picked up a loose ball, went past his marker and rifled a right foot shot past a helpless keeper from 25 yards. This was the fillip the home side needed and they continued to dominate, creating a number of chances but were profligate in front of the goal. Parkway were all at sea defensively but this is an unforgiving league and the Lambs paid a heavy price for their earlier misses when the conceded a soft penalty to allow the visitors to draw level. Tavistock were hit with a double whammy, conceding two goals in as many minutes, brought about by elementary errors. Lacking in confidence there was no real shape to the side as the central midfield duo vacated the crucial ground in front of their back four. Half-time came and went with Tavistock bringing on Lee Coxon for the below par Neil Kinsman. Matti Allen came on for Chris Short to make his debut and looked a good prospect. The game was essentially over when Tavistock?s defence stood motionless to allow a Parkway forward to head home at the far post from a corner. Tavistock continued to battle but looked dispirited and the visitors rounded off the scoring from their second penalty award after Andy Meeds was adjudged to have fouled an onrushing forward in the final minutes. This week Tavistock get some respite from the league programme, entertaining Gillingham in the FA Vase on Saturday. 2.30pm kick off. As always the club would welcome local support.
