CLLR Ted Sherrell is wrong in his comparison of parking for St Rumon's now and in the time when his children were at the school (Letters, October 27).
In the days before Dolvin Road became the A386, and the main route through Tavistock, it was safe to turn into the ground beside the school and teachers were able to use the two car-spaces thus afforded. Some readers will remember Miss Thelma Wood and Mrs Marion Hall regularly parking their cars by the side of the school. Parking was also available for staff in Dolvin Road itself.
Nowadays the staff at St Rumon's School face parking difficulties that are unique, and I sincerely ask the town council to reconsider the request of Mrs Clare Wesson, executive headteacher.
