RETIRED teacher and expedition trainer Helen Jenny has been re-appointed as a member of Dartmoor National Park authority by the Government.

Miss Jenny is one of six members of the authority who are directly appointed by the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for national interests and with specialist knowledge or interest in the national park.

She has 32 years' teaching experience and has worked with the national park's ranger service for 25 years in a voluntary capacity. Miss Jenny is also a volunteer leader for the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme, an expedition trainer and assessor for participants and the South West co-ordinator for the training of new award expedition assessors and leaders.

Dartmoor National Park Authority has 22 members with six from Devon County Council and six from the district councils (West Devon, Teignbridge and South Hams). As well as six government appointees like Miss Jenny there are four who are nominated for their parish council interests and approved by the secretary of state.
