THE 16th annual garden produce and sale was held on Saturday. The show was opened by Charles Booth Clibourne, of Hayne Manor, who welcomed everyone and praised the exhibitors for their work.

Mrs Hennessey thanked everyone for participating, the companies who sponsored the show, and all who helped with putting on the event.

Mrs Janet Brady, a local artist, presented a painting of St John's Church, Stowford, to Mrs Annette Goswell and Mrs Audrey Hennessey, to hang in Stowford Parish Hall.

Prizes were presented by Mr Booth Clibourne, Mrs Annette Goswell and Mrs Audrey Hennessey.

Although vegetable entries were down, due to the climatic conditions this year, entries in the quilting, patchwork and tapestry and children's section were up.

Overall winners were — Children's classes: 1; Josh Craddock; 2, Chelsea Cole. Adult classes: 1, Julie Chick; 2, Hilda Pengelly. Scarecrow competition: 1,Craddock family. 2, Chick family.

The Ridge Quilter Cup, presented in memory of Mrs Sylvia Canfield, was won by Pam Ackary.
