BROWNS Hotel in Tavistock has just earned the coveted accolade of an Enjoy England Tourism Gold Award for Excellence.
Elevated from townhouse of the year to a four star hotel with a silver grading in 2007, Browns is delighted to have achieved gold for its service, comfort, design and unique personal touches.
The hotel is owned by Helena King and Phil Biggins, who purchased it from Peter Brown in 2006. They said the upgrading to gold, following a number of industry awards, marked a steady upward trend which the Browns team was determined to maintain through a range of further developments.
Building work is soon to start on an extension which will include conference rooms, a jacuzzi, expanded kitchens and two luxury suites.
The owners said: 'We are extremely pleased and proud to achieve this accolade, and would like to say a huge thanks to staff and customers who have supported us.'
