THREE members from the Greenland's Tenants' and Residents' Association in Tavistock were presented with certificates for outstanding achievement for their community spirit. Sandy Rice, Helen Chappell and the Rev Joanna Abecassis were presented with the awards by the chair of West Devon Homes' tenant panel Liz Steele at the association's Christmas meal for elderly members. The awards were in recognition of all they have achieved for the estate over the past nine years — ensuring buses are routed on the estate, better lighting, installing refuse bins, and speed pledge signs. For the 60 people who attended the Christmas meal there was a traditional turkey dinner and Christmas pudding, with entertainment provided by Tavistock College pupils, and an appearance by Father Christmas. Mrs Steele said: 'Through their unselfish attitude and immense efforts the tenants' and residents' association has created a wonderful community spirit on the Greenlands Estate. 'Particular thanks go to Helen, Sandy and Joanna for all their hard work over the years.'
