A DOMICILIARY care company in Tavistock has been awarded ‘outstanding’ following an inspection from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) — just 18-months after opening its doors.

Home Instead Senior Care provides care to people in their own homes across Tavistock, the Tamar Valley and surrounding areas.

Lynn Roddy, owner of Home Instead, first launched the Tavistock and Tamar Valley office in July 2018, after personally experiencing the difficulties in finding quality and consistent care for her mother.

As part of the inspection, the inspectors spoke with clients, relatives, staff and external health and social care professionals.

Inspectors noted how care plans were ‘tailored to meet the needs of individuals and delivered to ensure flexibility, choice and continuity of care’.

In the report, inspectors documented one example about how a local family called upon Home Instead to help their elderly relative move out of a care home and back into their own home in order to regain independence and overall well-being, after the concerned family observed a ‘decline in independence’.

Home Instead worked closely with the client, the local authority, occupational therapy team and their family. Lynn and the care team created a ‘bespoke care package to meet the individual needs of the person’.

The report stated: ‘Because of the extensive and high-quality package of care being offered, the client was able to move back into the community.

‘Since staff have been supporting this client, their social engagement and overall well-being has greatly improved. They are now able to spend quality time with their family and engage with the local community.’

Lynn said: ‘We work extremely hard to carefully select staff in order to build trusting relationships with our clients and family members.’

The inspectors noted that the team maintained links with their local community and provided opportunities for clients to enhance their physical ability and well-being.

Lynn added: ‘We are thrilled to have received an “outstanding” rating from the Care Quality Commission.

‘This result is because of our hard-working team and I am so pleased to see their passion and true dedication recognised in this way.’
