It was a wetter night out than a typical swim session but that didn't stop a tremendous turnout to the Okehampton Otters Swimming Club presentation evening held for the first time at Ashbury golf club. The evening was a great success with swimmers, parents and grandparents keen to show their support for the clubs swimmers who competed in the club championships – many competing for the first time. Charlotte Radnor and Matthew Webber collected their awards as Club Open Champions. Most Improved girl was Molly Petherbridge and Most Improved boy was Leigh Hughes. Last year the awards for most enthusiastic swimmers went to Emily Alexander and Jon Aylen. Two new awards were presented by the club to celebrate the personal achievement made by individual swimmers at County and Open events went to George Roberts and Izzy Ewen. Izzy was also presented with a medal for completing 1500m in the Devon Development Gala last year with a PB that knocked minutes off of her personal best. Rebecca Ewen, who was injured on a school ski trip last year, but has continued as girls' captain though unable to swim, swapping swimming for teaching, was awarded the coveted Otter. The Clubmans cup went to Miriam Fallon for her work on the membership of the club. The club would like to thank Nick Bowles for the hard work, patience and support that he shows to swimmers, teachers, parents and teachers in his role as chairman and teacher.
