OKEHAMPTON Otters and Lifesaving Club would like say a big thank you to Okehampton United Charities for their generous grant towards the tuition fees for nine new volunteer coaches.

It is a legal requirement for the club to have suitably qualified teaching staff on hand at all of the club's ten, one hour training sessions held each week.

The new coaches have qualified as level one aquatic support teachers. The course is accredited by the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) and United Kingdom Coaching Certificate (UKCC). The course includes both coaching and child protection and safety issues.

The club would also like to thank Paul Adams of the Manor House Hotel and its owner Simon Essex, who also contributed to the costs of pool sessions, publications, training aids, and other ancillary items for the month long course.

The new support coaches are: Karen Adams, Tom Aylen, Natalie Bowles, Mia Fallon Clarke, Roger Cunningham, Dave Mugliston, Dave Rickwood, Andy Rutley, Claire Squire and a co-opted member Adam Chambers from Parklands. Well done and thanks to all of the new coaches for giving up their free time.
