PERCY?S Country Hotel and Restaurant at Virginstow, celebrated the honour of being named ?Organic Restaurant of the Year? by hosting a high-profile organic lunch last week.

Other top organic producers and restaurants gathered at Percy?s last Thursday along with press and representatives from the food and tourism industry for a five course meal showing off the best of organic food.

The day brought together prize winners in the Soil Association?s Organic Food Awards, which were held last Friday at London?s Dorchester Hotel where Percy?s was named ?Organic Restaurant of the Year?.

The menu at the media lunch was made up from ten South West gold award winner?s produce ? including Percy?s ? and was cooked by Percy?s chef director, Tina Bricknell-Webb and her team of young chefs from Percy?s Chef?s Academy.

In August, the restaurant and 130-acre estate at Virginstow became completely organic.

Ross Hayward, marketing manager for Percy?s explained: ?As a result, we entered a handful of our products into September?s Organic Food Awards, with the end result being a gold for our wild mushroom and chicken liver parfait and lemon tart and a highly commended for our meringues.?

A panel of top judges including Raymond Blanc, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and Sophie Grigson selected the winners of the prestigious awards from 1,000 entries in more than 30 categories.
