A CONSULTATION exercise into an exciting project to extend Bere Ferrers Parish Hall was held in the village recently, when residents were able to view plans. The project is being steered by Tamar Community Futures ? it is hoped that funding may be obtained from European Objective 2 funds to extend the hall, with further funding being sought to create jobs for one or two people during the next three years. In addition to the present facilities at the hall, the architect?s brief was to include a dedicated playgroup area, a multi-purpose meeting space, an IT training room and visitor information services. Residents who came to see the plans had three options to consider. They included a low-cost budget option, which met presents needs; a high budget option involving work at both ends of the existing building and a middle budget option which was generally considered to be the best value for money. This including the possibility of an extra meeting room and dressing room at the rear of the hall plus seven additional parking spaces. The disadvantages of the middle budget option were possible issues over the present play area with the Charity Commission and public access to the toilets. The response to the consultation will now be evaluated by the group.
