PATIENTS undergoing minor surgery at Tavistock Community Hospital will soon be greeted by bright, modern facilities as a refurbishment of the hospital's operating theatre gets underway. Torbay and Southern Devon Health and Care NHS Trust, which runs the Hospital, is undertaking the revamp. From this week until the end of October, areas of the hospital site will undergo extensive refurbishment to upgrade and modernise facilities. This includes a refurbishment of the hospital's operating theatre, taking place from August 1 until mid-September. All other services provided at the hospital, including the minor injuries unit and outpatient clinics, will continue to operate as usual during this time. Susan Wilkin, business manager for Tavistock Community Hospital, said: 'We are delighted to be undertaking a refurbishment of the operating theatre and the Bradford Suite (recovery ward) and we're sure that, once complete, our patients will be impressed by the transformation. 'We would, however, like to apologise for any inconvenience caused during the works and reassure our patients that we are working hard to ensure that any disruption is kept to a minimum. 'Unfortunately, these refurbishment works may generate levels of noise, some vibration and other causes of disturbance on the site. In addition, for the duration of the works, parking will be limited. 'Ensuring our patients have the best possible experience while in our care remains our highest priority, and we are proud to be working towards providing our patients with first-class, modern facilities.'
