WEST Devon Citizens Advice Bureau has altered its opening hours in its Ockment Centre, Okehampton to provide more flexible hours for clients. It has stopped the Monday morning service to enable longer opening hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Bureau manager Barbara Osborne said: ?We realised that our capacity on Mondays could be far more effective if transferred to other days when we could offer an appointment and telephone service in the morning and our open door and telephone service until 3pm.? The West Devon bureau, which merged the Okehampton and Tavistock offices in 2003, is continuing to evolve in its delivery of advice. The Tavistock bureau still remains open on Monday mornings for telephone and open door advice. ?We are happy to listen to the needs of our users and adjust our services accordingly within the constraints of finances and the availability of our trained volunteer advisers,? said Mrs Osborne. Last year the bureau dealt with more than 5,500 enquiries on subjects ranging from welfare benefits, housing needs, debt and consumer issues to neighbour disputes and relationship problems. The bureau hopes these new opening hours will enable more people to seek help earlier. To contact the CAB for advice call 01837 52574 or 01822 612359.
