NEXT week is Amateur Theatre Week, when theatre groups throughout the country will be giving performances and arranging other events to publicise what they do and encourage new people to get involved. On Wednesday, The Tavonians are holding an open evening for members, friends and anyone else interested. Titled ?That is the question?, the evening will be about having fun, but all of course in the name of theatre. There will be team quizzes and games, charades, and plenty of opportunity to meet fellow thespians over a glass of wine and a bit to eat. Alison Wright, chair of The Tavonians, said: ?We couldn?t put on a performance during this week as we?re busy with rehearsals for our production of Alan Ayckbourn?s ?Season?s Greetings? at the end of November, so we decided to celebrate Amateur Theatre Week with an event that would enable potential new members to find out more about us, and at the same time to have an enjoyable quiz evening. ?It?s not just about acting, we are always pleased to see those who want to be involved backstage or those who just want to come along to our series of workshops, play readings and other events. A year ago we celebrated our 70th anniversary and we have lots of exciting plans for the future?. The open evening starts at 7.30pm on Wednesday October 25 in the Guide Hall in Bedford Car Park).
