A NEW youth facility is on the cards for youngsters in the Horrabridge and Yelverton areas ? who are invited to a special open day this month to find out more about the plans. Charlotte Carpenter, of Devon Youth Service, said the new youth club project was ?very much youth-led?, which was why she was hoping plenty of young people would turn up to the open day on Wednesday August 24 to give their views on what the new club should provide. The open day is being held in Horrabridge Youth Centre, which is situated behind the riverside park area, between 4pm and 8pm. ?There will be a free barbecue, a band playing, sports events ? we hope lots of youngsters will come along and say what it is they would like to see happen and give us their ideas,? said Charlotte. The new youth club will be open on Tuesdays between 7pm and 9pm starting on September 13 and will be available for youngsters aged 11 to 16 years of age. Charlotte said there was a definite lack of facilities for youngsters of this age group, particularly since the youth club at Yelverton closed, so she urged as many young people as possible to come along to enjoy themselves at the open day and get involved with the new group.
